Pakistan’s ICT Exports Cross $354 Million in July 2025

Pakistan’s information and communication technology (ICT) sector has set a new record. In July 2025, ICT exports reached $354 million, a 23.8% rise compared with July 2024 ($286 million). Exports also grew 4.4% over June 2025 ($338 million), which shows steady momentum.
ICT Surplus and Sector Share
The ICT trade surplus stood at $317 million in July, nearly 26% higher than last year. ICT now contributes 47.5% of Pakistan’s total services exports, well ahead of other categories. For context, “other business services” generated $151 million, which underlines the sector’s lead within the services economy.
Overall Services Sector
Despite ICT’s gains, Pakistan’s wider services sector recorded a deficit of $126 million in July 2025. This makes ICT’s performance even more important as it helps balance the country’s trade numbers.
Growth Momentum from June
July’s progress followed a solid June, when ICT exports grew 13.8% year-on-year. That earlier improvement set the stage for July’s record.
What Is Driving the Growth?
1. Global demand
International demand for IT outsourcing, software development, customer support centres and freelancing continues to rise. Pakistan’s skilled and young workforce is winning more contracts in these areas.
2. Digital initiatives
Government policies under Vision 2025 and ongoing digital programmes support the sector. Key measures include:
- Incentives for IT firms
- Investment in digital infrastructure
- Support for freelancers and startups
Outlook
If the trend holds, ICT exports will continue to bring in foreign exchange, open up more jobs, and strengthen Pakistan’s reputation as a trusted IT partner. The sector is well placed to remain one of the country’s most competitive industries.
